Why Face Visibility?

Welcome to Mindset for Visibility, a new focus in my business. It is designed to help women coaches consultants and service providers stop avoiding marketing and sales and become the face of their business in a way that feels authentic and true to them.

Today I want to talk about why face visibility. What's the payoff for doing something that's scary and really not as attractive as facing visibility? Really being visible in our business or in our career.

I work with people who have their own small business primarily but this also applies to you if you're in a career, if you're in a job, and you want to continue to get promoted and to get raises.

What Does Visibility Impact?

Visibility impacts almost everything in your business. I can't really think of anything that it doesn't affect except maybe bookkeeping and accounting, but we want to make sure you have something to account for, that there's money in your business account. That's a big thing.

If you're not visible then people don't know what you do. They don't know how you can help them. They don't know how to engage with you to take advantage of the services that you provide.

It impacts your money. It impacts the work that you get to do. If you're not visible to your ideal client and you're not attracting her or him, then that diminishes the amount of work you get to do.

If you're like most people that I work with, you love what you do, and you would like to do more of it. So being visible really allows you to do that. Being visible contributes to the value that you provide.

If you know who you are and you know the value of the work that you do with other people, and how it serves them and makes their life better, then visibility is a key contributor to that. To be able to know your value, state your value, and share your value so other people go yes I really do need to work with you or I need the service that you provide.

If you're not visible you limit your own contribution. It limits your personal fulfillment.

I know that when I've had dips in my business and I'm not serving the people that I would like to serve, to the extent that I would like to, I get a little sad. I get a little cranky. Life is not right. My fulfillment level is down. You may have experienced that too.

We don't do what we do because we hate it, we do it because we love it because we know it's going to help other people. Our personal fulfillment gets squashed if we're not visible enough for our ideal clients to find us, and engage with us.

The last thing that not being visible takes a toll on is your growth. Not only the growth of your business, but the growth of yourself as a business person, as a service provider, and personally.

If you have your own small business, consultancy, or you work for a small business you know that business is a very fast track, personal growth engine.

So if you're not being visible, you're not doing your work at the rate and at the pace that you would like to do it, and you’re not serving the people that you would like to serve to the optimal level.

This is going to restrict business growth and your personal growth.

Unless you're one of those unicorn people like a one in 1000 or one in 10,000 that doesn’t have to market or sell, then you are going to have to be more visible. You'll know if you're a unicorn person like that because you have all the clients, and all the income that you would like. No, not many of us are there yet, but we can get there, as we get more visible.

You may say well, I just want people to refer to me. Word of mouth marketing is the best because people come to you with a warm lead rather than a cold lead. They've been referred to you because someone else really admires your work, but you know it can take years to build up to that.

I have colleagues that only have to do word of mouth marketing and they get really great referrals. But that didn't happen overnight. They had to be visible in their own way, on their own terms before that could happen. It's actually a build.

So what I'd like to ask you to do is to think about what is one reason that you might want to face visibility in your life and in your business.

What is one reason why you might want to stop avoiding marketing and sales on your own terms?

I'm not talking about being sleazy, pushy, or shaming people into buying your stuff. I’m not talking about that at all.

I'm talking about being authentic and offering your services in a way that other people think yeah, I need that.

So, what's one reason that you might want to face visibility? If you want to put it in the comments below, we'd love to read it. Thanks for going on this journey of visibility with me.
