Why Are You Here? (and how to stop hiding)
Most entrepreneurs don’t start a business just for the money. Of course financial freedom is part of it, but when you’re in alignment, the work you do (your business) is an extension of your soul. It’s about self-expression, growth, and making an impact.
It’s about giving back and sharing the wisdom that you’ve earned so that we can all experience growth into a higher vibration together.
But here’s the problem:
Too many talented, heart-led entrepreneurs are hiding. They hold themselves back. They play small. They let fear stop them from stepping into the full expression of their mission.
And sometimes they do that when the world needs them most.
If you are feeling the pain of hiding in your soul right now, this is your sign that it’s time to step into the light.
And I’m going to share with you how to do it.
Step 1: Let Your Mission Be Bigger Than Your Fear
If your business is truly a mission, it will not leave you alone until you pursue it. It will keep nudging you, whispering (or shouting) in your ear, reminding you of why you started.
I know this because I’ve been there. What I’m doing in my business now is what I dreamed about 20 years ago. Back then, I didn’t have the skills, the resources, or the confidence to do it. But the mission never left me. It just waited until I was ready.
One of the best ways to uncover your mission is to write it down. Challenge yourself to get it to as few words as possible.
Ask yourself: What is more important than anything I could be afraid of?
The answer that comes to you is your mission.
Once you identify it, fear loses its grip.
Step 2: Be Willing to Receive Everything
A lot of people hide because they’re afraid of criticism, rejection, or judgment or ultimately, how their mission will be perceived by others.
Let me ask you this: What if receiving negativity actually made you more successful?
Because receiving is not the same as accepting.
You can receive criticism, blame, and rejection without accepting it and making it your own.
Receiving is more like the flow of water.
The words, the judgments, the opinions of others—they’re just part of the current that moves through and around you.
There is nothing that says you must dip your cup into any part of that current that you don’t want to accept for yourself.
In fact, the more willing you are to receive the flow of that current, the more money and opportunities can flow to you. Because you’re no longer blocking it.
Step 3: Let Your Business Guide You
For years, I listened to business “gurus” tell me exactly how to run my business. They had their formulas, their one-size-fits-all strategies, their promise that if I just followed their steps, success was guaranteed.
But you know what? It never worked for me.
Because I had to do business my way.
And you do, too.
Your business has its own energy. It has a vision, a direction, and a purpose. The more you try to force it into someone else’s mold, the more resistance you’ll feel.
So instead of blindly following someone else’s strategy, start listening to your business.
Ask it:
Where do you want to go?
Who do you want to serve?
How do you want to show up in the world?
The more you listen, the more aligned (and successful) you’ll become.
Final Thought: Your Success Benefits Others
I’ve already written a lot about this but it’s worth mentioning again. There’s a sneaky belief that holds a lot of entrepreneurs back: the idea that if they succeed, someone else will suffer. That making money, being visible, or thriving somehow takes away from others.
Let’s clear that right now: Your success benefits others.
When you allow yourself to thrive, you:
Become an example of what’s possible
Create opportunities for others
Generate more resources to give and contribute
As Gay Hendricks says in The Big Leap: “I expand in abundance, success, and love every day as I inspire those around me to do the same.”
So stop hiding. Let yourself be seen. The world needs you—your mission, your light, your gifts. And the moment you truly step into them, everything changes.
