But Will You Like Me with Money?

I swim in the professional coaching pool – abundance coaching for women business owners to be specific.

There’s a lot of talk about money.

A lot of talk about manifesting.

A lot of talk about generating a six-figure business.

I participate in all this talk, personally and professionally.

Because it’s important.

It’s important for women solopreneurs to be well paid so that they can do more, get more support (what a concept!), and have a bigger impact.

In my personal life money was often a struggle. I was operating under many of the common limiting programs that women have of being valuable by being givers, servers, helpers, and not receivers.

But I started helping my mother with her financial accounts as she aged. Mamma was money savvy, had inherited assets from her parents, and was an excellent steward of her money.

She was generous to her family in terms of education and travel but liked to live frugally. She was a good investor, mostly in the stock market. I learned a lot from her.

I also educated myself about investing and money management. I worked to raise my abundance consciousness (meaning I started to see myself as worthy of money).

And then my mother died, and I inherited my own assets from her. I had more work to do to raise my abundance consciousness and feel worthy of the largesse I had received.

I was able to buy a house for the first time and decorate it in my own style. I have even been able to let go of family furniture that didn’t fit in my new place.

On Facebook I shared the progress of making my house my own. Obviously, I had to have money to buy a house and to decorate it and update essential systems like air conditioning and heating.

Here’s what surprised me – everyone who has commented during the six month update have been happy for me, even thrilled, for me at having the money to make this change.

It has been heartening to be so supported and cheered on in this process.

Several friends have told me multiple times, “I am so happy for you to have this beautiful home! It really reflects you!”

No jealousy, no meanness, just celebrating with me for this lovely change in my life.

What I take from this is the knowledge that having money, having resources, being able to make a big change in life can be cheered by others.

With more money, I have not been abandoned or shunned. I can do more – for myself and others. Yes, I’m still a giver and am able to give and contribute more. And I am a woman growing into being a good steward of the bounty that I have received from my family.

Money can be a blessing – to you and to those people and causes you care about.

Expanding your ability to receive more money and abundance will not set you apart, just make you richer in many positive ways.
